The Makin’ It Work Program was originally piloted through the Community Centre Alliance in 2007, and is now being piloted in other areas of the province.  The Smallwood Crescent Community Centre, in partnership with the Department of Human Resources, Labour, and Employment, is proud to be the host organization of the program in the Marystown area.  The Makin’ It Work! program is an education to employment program that looks at the barriers between program participants and employers.  The purpose of the program is to work with employers in identifying these training issues and then training the participants to match the job duties required.  All participants involved in the program will receive a guaranteed interview with their matched employer after completion of the 4 week training and 1 week work term!  This program is possible through partnership of a steering committee consisting of representatives from the Community Centre, HRLE, Newfoundland & Labrador Housing, YES Centre, Canadian Paraplegic Association, and Brighter Futures.
